Leadership choices often shape the direction and future of a people, and at this critical moments, such decisions must rise above sentiment, convenience, and narrow political interests. Kogi East is at such a moment. The question before us is not merely who becomes the next Senator, but what standard we are prepared to uphold as a people. This is not a time for guesswork or experimentation. The responsibility is too great, and the expectations of the people is too important to be ignored.
Kogi East deserves nothing but the very best, and the best must never be chosen on the basis of trial and error. Leadership at the level of a Senator is too critical to be reduced to uncertainty or political experimentation.
Within the APC, there is an urgent need for caution, discipline, and strategic thinking. We must not, by our own actions, play into the hands of the opposition. The choice of a Senatorial candidate must be deliberate, thoughtful, and rooted in credibility. Kogi East cannot afford to gamble. What is required is a candidate with a verifiable track record, measurable achievements, and a reputation that already resonates positively with the people.
Candidate selection demands serious scrutiny. Character, principles, and consistency must form the foundation of that decision. An individual with questionable conduct or opportunistic tendencies will not only weaken public trust but also project the party in a negative light. Kogi East Constituents are discerning. They can clearly distinguish between genuine compassion and calculated generosity. They understand the difference between long-standing philanthropy and last-minute charity driven by political ambition.
It is therefore important to be wary of sudden acts of generosity that conveniently emerge at the onset of political aspiration. True service is consistent. It is rooted in conviction and sustained long before the pursuit of power.
This is where the example of Rt Hon Alh Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims stands apart. His record of philanthropy did not begin with political ambition. It has been a defining part of his life long before public office became a consideration. His generosity and commitment to people created a natural path that eventually led him into politics.
As a Representative member, he has justified that trust. His impact has expanded, his reach has deepened, and his contributions have multiplied.
