On assumption of duty as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Nzenwo Wike, the ratings of FCT interms of all round measurements was at a low ebb, from Infrastructure, Economy , Investment, Health , Education, and all other major indices that qualifies a state for advancement was glaringly lacking .
But , when Nyesom Nzenwo Wike assumed duty , naturally the competition between Lagos, Port harcourt and Abuja interms all round growth has been competitive compared to other states of the Federation.
The leading three states rated by the NBS interms of investment, industrialization, development, infrastructural development, health , education, social, economic and political engagement as well as welfare of it’s citizens has maintained the status quo.
But soon after the inception and appointment of Nyesom Nzenwo Wike two years ago, the trend changed in the area of investment, industrialization, security, inflow of series of economic, social and sane political activities that had given the lead from the two other states , especially Lagos, Port Harcourt, to FCT particularly security, influx of investors and investment and all round development that had triggered advancement both in the FCT and its neighborhood.
This boils down to good network of roads , quality health provision, affordable schools and social services and security that had triggered influx of both business and skilled individuals, including industrialists hence creating both skilled jobs, intermediate and high profile opportunities in the FCT.
The hitherto dilapidated and non motorable roads that the present administration under Nyesom Nzenwo Wike embarked on massive repairs, opening up of new ones , bringing back on board the abandoned roads across the FCT and area councils, had made the FCT attracted to all and sundry, organizations , institutions, corporations, both local and foreign agencies, companies that found the FCT a stable place in the area of security and governance, therefore rated as the most stable state among the 36 states of the Federation, which had naturally placed Lagos and Port Harcourt as second and third position in all areas .
With Renewed Hope Agenda, efforts and vigour of the present administration, no doubt in the next one year , the FCT will become a place to battle for accomodation and investment not minding the six area councils that is been developed to maintain same pattern and pace.
The positive development is in line with the ongoing efforts by the Minister through the massive launching of more roads projects across the FCT in the last one month including fortified security, provision of adequate renewable energy lights through provision of solar street lights across FCT and area councils to ensure adequate security of lives and properties as well as residents.
The high rating of the FCT, no doubt is hinged on collective efforts and determination of the Minister, Nyesom Nzenwo Wike and his abled team to turn around the story of the FCT from the old pattern of insecurity, bad roads and reduced to the barest minimum social problems among many others.
With his determination, no doubt the Wike led administration in FCT will continue to maintain the leading figure amongst states that will continue to attract investment and development as well as best rating amongst all other states in Nigeria.
