Igala, was one of the strongest and the fearless and terrifying warlord among the ethnic groups that formed the Kwararafa Empire before 5.00 AD.

Kwararafa, happens to be an Empire domicile around the Middle-Belt areas that extended their frontier and hegemony towards the northeast and conquered many territories in the entire northern areas.

The first people to be conquered by the Usmanu Danfodiyo soldiers where Hausas. Some of the Hausas men were recruited to extend the ideology of Usmanu Danfodiyo Jihadist to many parts of the north.
He began to extend his territory and advancing towards the Middle-Belt areas and plants his men, the Fulanis to lord over the inhabitants.
He was able to conquered some Middle -Beltas, like Niger and Kwara but met his Waterloo in the Igala Kingdom. He was stopped by the Attah and his warriors.
If you observed very well, you would discover that all the ethnic groups that participated in the Kwararafa Empire were not conquered by Fulanis. The likes of the people of plateau, the Jukun in Taraba, the Tiv of Benue down to almighty Igala of present Kogi State today.
The warriorness of Queen Amina of Zauza and many Danfodiyo soldiers suffered heavy defeat and loss their lives in the Igala Kingdom. Again, the clash between the Oboni and their Emirs, all of these were the hangover they are holding unto against the Igala Nation.
