ABUJA, NIGERIA – NOVEMBER 17, 2024.
The Igala Carnival Command Performance held on November 16, 2024, in Abuja, was a resounding success, showcasing the vibrant cultural and traditional heritage of the Igala people to a massive crowd of 10,000 people.
The event, attended by dignitaries including the Honorable Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy’s representative, Engineer Musa Wada, and former Kogi State Governorship candidate, Prince Shaibu Halilu Sani, Abdulrazaq Baba Emeje, Chief Peter Iduh Hajia Halima Ladi Wada former kogi state first lady,former APC National Woman Leader HAJIYA Salamatu Bawa Umar-Eluma and others great sons and daughters of the igala nation was a spectacular display of music, comedy, masquerade performances, and dance drama acts.
The dance drama acts stole the show, telling the captivating story of the Igala people’s origin and their first female king, Ebulejenu.
The performance highlighted the Igala people’s rich cultural heritage, from their traditional dress code to their cuisine and ancient way of life.
The Igala Carnival Command Performance made history as the first African carnival event to record a successful command performance outside the continent.
This achievement underscores the Igala tribe’s commitment to showcasing their language and culture on the international stage.
Hajia Mariam Indira Emeje Mohammed, Founder and Organizer of the Igala Carnival, revealed that the 9th edition in 2025 will unveil innovative concepts and expose the true essence of the Igala Carnival in Ayingba, Kogi State.
The Igala Carnival has consistently attracted over 250,000 people annually, solidifying its position as North Central Nigeria’s largest carnival.
