Katsina State Government has set aside over 398 million naira to be shared as a Sallah package to intending pilgrims from the state while in the Holy Land. This is in addition to the payment of 578 million naira for Hadaya,
Governor Radda made this known during a farewell ceremony for Katsina State intending pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.
Malam Radda, used the occasion to urge the intending pilgrims to pray for peace and unity in the state and the country while at the Holy Land.
The Governor charged them to be good ambassadors of the state and the country. He also asked them to pray for the success of his administration in its efforts to fight against insecurity facing the state.
He commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for the arrangements made to ensure the successful conduct of the 2024 Hajj exercise.
While applauding the commitment of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board in coordinating the exercise, Malam Radda also advised the intending pilgrims to abide by the rules and regulations set by the Saudi authorities.
The Governor congratulated the 2,760 intending pilgrims for being chosen by Allah to perform the Hajj, which is one of the pillars of Islam.
Also speaking, the State Amirul Hajj, who is the former Deputy Governor, Tukur Ahmad Jikamshi, said good arrangements had been made by the board in collaboration with the state government’s delegation. He said these arrangements had been yielding positive results since the beginning.
Alhaji Jikamshi attributed this success to the support and cooperation they received from the State.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, who is also Sarkin Alhazan Katsina, commended Governor Dikko Umar Radda for giving them the opportunity to exercise their mandate without interference. He assured the Governor that they would justify the confidence placed in them by ensuring a hitch-free Hajj exercise.
The Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Yunusa Abdullahi Dankama, expressed his appreciation to the Governor for his support in ensuring proper arrangements for the exercise.
Alhaji Dankama said the State Government had supported the intending pilgrims in the areas of accommodation, Hadaya, and transportation to ease their pilgrim
A highlight of the occasion was the presentation of visas and basic traveling allowances to the intending pilgrims.
Speaking on behalf of the Katsina and Daura Emirates, the Yandakan Katsina, Alhaji Sada Muhammad Sada, acknowledged the state government’s commitment to the exercise. He appealed to the intending pilgrims from the state to be good ambassadors and to pray for the state and the country.
