Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has pledged to finalize all viable projects initiated by the previous state administration.

The Commitment was made during the commissioning of 28 km Kafur- Gaura- Bugawa- Sabon Layin Siran – Kagara to Mahuta road as well as 4.8km Spur at Gaurai to Rugoji.

Acknowledging the commendable work of construction firm Mother Cat Limited, Governor Radda recognized that the road project was initiated by the preceding state administration. Originally budgeted at 4.2 billion naira in 2021, the project underwent a review, resulting in an upward adjustment.

Governor Radda emphasized the importance of the road in enhancing the daily socio-economic activities of the communities it serves and assured them of continued support. Additionally, he announced plans to enlist experts to evaluate the progress of the ongoing Sulma Dam project in Kafur local government area, aiming for its prompt completion.

Dr. Sani Magaji Ingawa, the State Commissioner of Works, Housing, and Transport, noted that the road project’s contract sum was revised upward to approximately 5.7 billion naira due to escalating material costs. He expressed gratitude to the governor for settling the construction firm’s liability exceeding six billion naira.

Representing Mother Cat Limited, Mr. Maroon Gosten hailed the road project as the first completed and commissioned under the Dikko administration, thanking the state government for addressing the company’s liabilities.

Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Kanya, Chairman of Kafur Local Government, lauded Governor Radda’s administration for completing the project, anticipating its positive impact on the socio-economic landscape of the region. He also commended the governor for initiating the reconstruction of Gidan-tuka mosque and an attached Islamiyya school.

In a closing remark, Alhaji Abdulrahman Rabe Abdullahi, the Dan Galadiman Katsina District Head of Kafur, appealed to Governor Radda to prioritize the completion of the Sulma Dam project, emphasizing its significance for irrigation farmers in neighboring communities.

The ceremony was marked by the presentation of various gifts to Governor Radda by the appreciative communities, symbolizing gratitude for the transformative road project.
