ENG. DAN ATAYI and CO;
I must begin by saying that your mentality of ignorance is so irritating and disgusting!!
First,what the constitution states under Section 28 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution is that:
“a person shall forfeit forthwith his citizen Nigerian citizenship if not being a citizen of Nigeria by birth,he acquires or retains the citizenship or nationality of a country other than Nigeria,of which he is not a citizen by birth”
Drawing from the above,I want you to be well informed that Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia is a Citizen of Nigeria by birth/origin,and his allegiance and that of oath of service and duty remains uncompromisingly to his country of birth(Nigeria) where he is resident and serving the good people of Benue State as the democratically elected Governor of the state.
Indeed,Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia took the oath of office,duty and that of allegiance to the Nigerian on the 29th of May,2023 to serve the good people of Benue State according to the provisions of the Nigerian constitution.
Similarly,Fr.Alia has NEVER denounced his biological citizenship status as a great Kunav son from Mbangur-Mbadede,in which in his Father,late Pa Alia and his wife,the mother of Hyacinth Iormem both gave birth to their son. You must also know the mother of Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia is a descent of Mbatiav one of the local communities in Gboko Local Government Area.
You may wish to know that citizens of Nigeria who are even on dual citizenship are entitled to contesting for public offices in Nigeria,practically where their oath allegiance and that of service as citizens by birth to the Nigerian constitution is unchanged.
The citizenship status of Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia as indicated in that document tendered at the tribunal is that of citizenship by registration,which is traditionally limited in concept,practice and principles as compared to that of citizenship by birth/descent,which the Rev. Gentleman holds,without denying m/.denouncing his origin and oath of service and duty to Nigerian nation.
The US citizenship of Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia as also indicated,was for the purpose of the expediency of his Apostolic activities and missionary work as a Catholic Priest,who was resident then in the United States. Indeed, he needed to assure the US government(and not the US constitution) of his good intentions to stay and carry out the Apostolic works of Christ Our Lord,without contravening the laws of the government of United States.
