The Katsina State Development Management Board,(KSDMB) in collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross, conducts a groundbreaking First Aid Training Simulation Exercise for State Executive Council Members. This critical initiative, held on the 16th July, 2024 at the Board’s premises, marks a significant step towards enhancing emergency response capabilities within the state government.
The event, graced by the presence of high-ranking officials, was hosted on behalf of His Excellency, Governor Mallam Dikko Umara Radda, PhD CON, represented by the Secretary to the Government, Abdullahi Faskari. Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff, Jabiru Tsauri, and other State Executive Council Members.
The Executive Secretary, Katsina State Development Management Board,(KSDMB) Bilkisu Sulaiman Ibrahim emphasized the importance of this training, stating, “This initiative is part of our Board’s commitment to ensure that government members are equipped with crucial life-saving skills. Given our context, where access to emergency services can be limited or delayed, it’s vital that our leaders are prepared to safeguard and preserve life.”
The simulation exercise demonstrated essential first aid techniques, including: Proper positioning of patients in the recovery position and safe extraction and transportation of injured victims from vehicles
These practical demonstrations provided invaluable hands-on experience to the participants, enhancing their readiness to respond effectively in emergency situations.
The significance of this Simulation Exercise cannot be overstated. By equipping government officials with these critical skills, Katsina State is taking proactive steps to improve its emergency response capabilities. This initiative not only enhances the safety of government officials but also sets a precedent for responsible leadership in public safety.
Looking ahead, the Board has announced plans for future training sessions targeting heads of agencies and other key personnel. This ongoing commitment aims to create a substantial network of trained first aiders across the state, significantly bolstering Katsina’s ability to protect and safeguard its citizens in times of emergency.
