In the history of Nigeria’s political evolution and also in recent times, political office holders from down to top have never had it so good interms of cordial relationships between both workers and pensioners like the record oyo state governor and APM Presidential candidate, Engr Seyi Makinde had displayed.
The record breaking governor and President in the waiting aside maintaining the cordial relations with workers, along with regular welfare of workers and pensioners in the state, was thrown into a historic rousing welcome from his annual leave on thursday by workers in Oyo state .
This is at the backdrop of series of arguments, disagreements and altercations between state workers in Nigeria and worsened at the federal level, owing to self induced and intentional hardship created by the APC Tinubu led administration.
This was also coming at a time when Oyo State government paid it’s workers wage allowances and 13th month salaries of 25,000 and pensioners 15,000 consecutively for the next six months.
As early as possible on thursday, workers in the state resumed offices and later filed out on hearing that Governor Seyi Makinde who proceeded on annual leave will resume on the faithful day.
After attending to the basic and routine files desiring attention, filed out to welcome the people’s governor from his annual leave and opportunity to catch a glimpse of the first citizen of Oyo State.
Armed with prompt payment of salaries over seven years consistently and robust leadership experience and qualities, the workers, state head of service, Deputy governor who acted on his absence, that is lacking at the national level and many states of the federation appreciated his leadership qualities.
This is far away from what was obtainable at the federal level were on many occasions and currently President Bola Ahmed Tinubu proceeded on leave without handing over to the Vice president, a culture that pervaded in many states of the country.
For Engr Seyi Makinde, Oyo State governor and APM Presidential candidate in the 2027 elections, workers in Oyo state are partners in progress in the project to develop the state, with continuity in government and all round development to the envy of many bad experiences in other states.
The solidarity showed by the workers in oyo state on resumption of duty by the governor will complement the one been displayed in the larger society particularly at the political front , both in oyo and by extension the entire nation after winning the January 2027 general elections.
The show of solidarity was far from what is normally obtainable from the local governments, states and worsened at the federal level.
This was coming at a time when workers at the federal level and labour leaders, some states are demanding for appropriate salaries, wages in view of the intermittent hike in fuel prices with multiplier effects on other services.
It also came at a time when some states are finding it difficult to pay minimum wage, arears , salaries and allowances, while oyo state is enmeshed in the euphoria of good governance courtesy of Engr Seyi Makinde.
A situation where by local government areas no longer exist interms of leadership owing to state interferences, inadequate funding, it became something to ponder with and redress while oyo state governor is been celebrated by workers and citizens of the state .
The onus now lies on not only oyo state workers , but by extension the entire nation yearning for good governance to support both by words and actions, the Engr Seyi Makinde quest to rule Nigeria, so as to replicate the good governance been witnessed in the state.
The strong belief that workers must earn a living wages will be a departure to bequeathing good governance with indepth experience, from young , agile leader as displayed by the Governor in the last seven years in oyo state to the federal level.
All hands must be on deck to enable Nigeria and Nigerians depart from the annual wailing and rituals of retaining bad leaders with no choice.
The choice of Seyi Makinde led federal government will overhaul and reform the country to enviable heights in the shortest possible time .
