The former President of the Senate, Sen. David Mark has described the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning, National Assembly, Dr. Obasi David Ukoha as an admirable civil servant with an excellent spirit.
Mark, during the grand reception organized by Abiriba Communal Improvement Union (ACIU) Worldwide, in honour of Dr. Ukoha in Abuja over the weekend, said the new Permanent Secretary is someone with an excellent spirit, prayed that he excelled more in his new office.
He added that, Ukoha is a committed civil servant, a humble person and loyal friend who is worthy of emulation. “he is a good team player and very hard working. I recalled when he served as my personal physician, during the 6th and 7th Senate, he demonstrated an exceptional level of commitment, dedication, competence and efficiency in the course of his duties.
His words; “Be reminded that your appointment as Secretary, Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning, comes with substantial responsibility. As you celebrate, you must also bring to mind, the solemn task placed upon your shoulders. The task ahead is not without challenges, it also come with high expectation, you have to bring to bear your expertise.” Mark charged.
Speaking earlier, the President, Abiriba Communal Improvement Union (ACIU) Worldwide, Mr. Emmanuel Kalu, said the community decided to celebrate the achievements of Dr. David Ukoha in the civil service, saying he is the first Abariba man to be elevated to such height in the public office, while urged him that this new journey requires dedication, commitment to the growth of the nation.
On his part, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, encouraged Dr. Ukoha to justify the confidence reposed in him through the appointment, charging him not to relent in giving his utmost best in the discharge of his duties, “embrace empathy and compassion as you carry out your duties.” Abaribe urged.
Responding, Secretary, Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning, Dr. David Ukoha thanked the guests and the organizers for the honour bestowed on him, through the grand reception, saying, the gesture has spurred him far more greater, considering the attendance, where dignitaries came from all works of life to grace the event.
He pledged to maintain good standing with the political heads and staff of the National Assembly for speedy attainment of their given mandates. “I consider myself extremely fortunate working with such fantastic leaders and group of people on efforts that are making a huge difference to Nigerians.
“I will always work with integrity and transparency, while keeping in mind that my commitment would be instrumental to achieving aspiration of Greater Nigeria. I firmly believe that there are challenges ahead but I am confident that we can rise to them by working together, every challenge is surmountable and I will give my best.” He assured.
