The political landscape of Bauchi State witnessed another major shake-up on Wednesday as the entire state structure of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) collapsed into the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The defectors, led by the State Chairman, Hon. Muntaqa Ahmad Zubairu, stormed the Government House, Bauchi, where they were received by the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
Addressing the Governor, the State Secretary of the party, Alhassan Danlami Bako, said the NDC leadership across all 20 Local Government Areas of the state had resolved to join the APM after a thorough assessment of Governor Bala Mohammed’s performance.
Bako described the Bala Mohammed administration as a model of transformational leadership, citing his unprecedented infrastructural development, massive investment in education and healthcare, youth and women empowerment, and his efforts in restoring the pride of Bauchi State.

He added that their defection is not just about joining a party, but about aligning with a vision that is working for the people of Bauchi.
In his response, Governor Bala Mohammed, Kauran Daular Usmaniya, expressed delight over the development, saying the mass movement into APM is a testament that Bauchi people have accepted the party as their own.
The Governor assured the new members of full integration and equal opportunity in the party, reiterating that APM remains the most credible platform to sustain his legacy of good governance beyond 2027.
The reception was witnessed by the APM Gubernatorial Candidate, Dr. Yakubu Adamu, Wazirin Giade, PDP and APM stakeholders, and top government functionaries.
