Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed is the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, an administrator, politician per excellence, a role that earned him the initial title of ‘Kauran Bauchi’ that later metamorphosed to ‘Kauran Daular Usmaniyya’ due to his political sagacity and disposition.
Senator Bala was known as an astute administrator who worked tirelessly in the civil service and later joined politics after retirement.
Bala Mohammed represented Bauchi South in the green chamber of the National Assembly, a position he rose to become Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT , Abuja during President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s administration.
At one time or the other due to his indepth political experience, the Bauchi State Governor was in the kitchen cabinet of Jonathan’s administration, a role he played positively to the betterment of the country.
A maverick politician, after many years as Minister of the nation’s city, he moved to his home State of Bauchi were he became governor in 2019 and was reelected in 2023.
Bala who was elected under the previous united People’s Democratic Party, PDP became the chairman of the governors forum with the party controlling many states of the federation.
Kauran daular Usmaniyya left the PDP after his refusal to subject the party leadership to the ruling APC government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also blatantly refused the overture of the present administration to persuade him to defect to the ruling APC, a situation that broke the political history of Nigeria.
It is only in Kauran Daular Usmaniyya, Senator Bala Mohammed that emmisaries of the ruling party leadership, presidency and members of the executive and legislative arm of government led a delegation to Bauchi State to implore , persuaded him to defect to the APC led federal government, a situation he turned down.
Having turned down the political overture with juicy arrangements against the suffering Nigerians, Senator Bala Mohammed pitched tent with another political party , the Allied People’s Movement, APM to become the leader of the party.
Bala Mohammed was the first Nigeria governor to reject the movement to the ruling party and the first governor in Nigeria to join the opposition party, after leaving the main opposition party in Nigeria.
Considering the plight of ordinary Nigerians, economic hardships and sufferings, he decided to pitch tent with the Allied People’s Movement, APM to rescue power back to the people.
Having created and broken records in recent political development, similar to the experiences of the first republic under Sir Ahmadu Bello , Sardauna of Sokoto , late Prime Minister , Tafawa Balewa when opposition thrives, he became not only the darling of Nigeria politics , but the driver of the main opposition party in Nigeria, attracting many senators, House of Representatives members State House of Assembly members and Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde to APM fold.
With deep experience of the current political dynamics, Senator Bala Mohammed convinced Engr Seyi Makinde to vie for Nigeria’s President under the Allied People’s Movement, APM as the leader of the party, a situation that had turned APM into the main opposition party in Nigeria.
Currently, he is the APM Senatorial candidate for Bauchi South in the 2027 general elections.
