The Executive Chairman of Idah Local Government, Hon. Alhaji Halilu Alfa, has expressed deep sadness and extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the former Governor of Kogi State, Late Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, following his demise.
Hon. Alhaji Halilu Alfa described the late former Governor as “Mr. Legacy,” in recognition of the enduring projects and developmental initiatives he left across Kogi State during his tenure as Executive Governor. This was contained in a statement signed by Kashim Hassan iduh, special adviser to the chairman on Information and strategy to the chairman on Sunday.
In his condolence message, the Idah Local Government Chairman recalled the numerous achievements recorded under the administration of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, infrastructure and overall development of the state.
Hon. Halilu Alfa further acknowledged the late Governor’s commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment, noting that his inclusive leadership opened doors for many young people to participate in governance. He recalled with gratitude how this policy provided him with the opportunity, as a young man, to serve under the administration of the late Governor as one of his Special Assistants.
According to Hon. Halilu Alfa, the late Alhaji Ibrahim Idris was not only a leader but also a mentor, a guide and a trustworthy statesman whose contributions to the development of Kogi State will remain memorable.
“Indeed, death is inevitable, and every soul shall taste death.”
Hon. Alhaji Halilu Alfa, on behalf of himself, the government and the good people of Idah Local Government, commiserated with the family, friends, associates and the people of Kogi State over the loss.
He noted that the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris is particularly significant to the people of Idah, as the roots of the deceased’s lineage are traced to the ancient city of Idah, the historic seat of the Igala Kingdom.
The Chairman prayed Almighty God to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and give the bereaved family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
