The Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, *Dr. David Olofu*, has called on both the Federal Government and the Benue State Government to accord urgent priority to the protection of vulnerable communities in Benue South against the unrelenting attacks by suspected murderous herdsmen.
Dr. Olofu made this appeal earlier today in reaction to the tragic attack on the *Otukpo-Nobi community* in Okete District as well as Akpachi – Ugboju in Otukpo Local Government Area, which occurred few days ago and in the early hours of this morning.
Lamenting the incessant and brutal assaults on indigenes and communities across the Benue South Senatorial District, the Senatorial hopeful urged security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities and ensure justice is served to forestall reoccurrence.
Describing the attacks as deliberate acts of aggression by marauders, Dr. Olofu stressed that _”every necessary effort must be mobilized to secure our communities and preserve the sanctity of human life.”_
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in these attacks. As of the time of this release, not fewer than nine persons have been confirmed dead.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed, and for God’s comfort and strength upon the bereaved families and the District.
