The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Prince Michael Ojotule as the South-South Coordinator for the re-election campaign of Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Deputy Governor Joel Salifu Oyibo ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The appointment was welcomed by APC supporters and members of the Kogi community living across Nigeria’s South-South region, particularly in Rivers State, where supporters described it as recognition of Ojotule’s contributions to grassroots political mobilisation.
Ojotule currently serves as the Kogi State Coordinator of the South West Agenda for Asiwaju and North Central Alliance (SWAGA/NCA), a political support group. Supporters say he has played a role in expanding support for the Ododo/Oyibo administration in Rivers State and other parts of the South-South.
A former aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Idah Federal Constituency, Ojotule has remained active in APC political activities and grassroots engagement, according to party members.
In a statement issued by APC members in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, the group said the appointment reflected Ojotule’s leadership, commitment, and service to the party.
The statement expressed confidence that he would strengthen the party’s organisational efforts and coordinate political engagement across the South-South region in support of the Ododo/Oyibo campaign.
“This appointment is well deserved and reflects Hon. Michael Ojotule’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to the growth of the APC. We congratulate him and pledge our support as he assumes this important responsibility,” the statement said.
The appointment comes as political consultations and organisational activities continue within Nigeria’s major political parties ahead of the next electoral cycle. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who assumed office as Kogi State governor in January 2024, has not formally declared his intention to seek re-election in 2027.
