After extensive consultations with the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and careful consideration of various political indices, I, Elder OMA Unekwuojo (JP), have taken the difficult but patriotic decision to withdraw my aspiration to contest for the Senate to represent the good people of Kogi East in the 2027 General Elections.
This decision has not been taken lightly. It is borne out of my unwavering commitment to the unity, stability, and collective progress of our great party. As loyal party members, we must always place the overall interest of the National Democratic Congress above individual ambitions to ensure victory in the 2027 General Elections.
In the spirit of sacrifice and party cohesion, I have resolved to throw my full support behind High Chief Peter Ojonugwa Ameh, whom I believe should enjoy our collective support as we work together to secure success for our party.
I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support, encouragement, and confidence reposed in me by my supporters, political associates, friends, and well-wishers throughout this journey. Your loyalty and belief in my vision remain deeply valued.
I therefore urge every member of my political family, all supporters, and the good people who have stood with me to transfer the same passion, commitment, structures, and energy to the campaign of High Chief Peter Ojonugwa Ameh. Together, we shall build a stronger and more united NDC capable of delivering quality representation and good governance for Kogi East.
Our commitment to the development of Kogi East and the service of our people remains steadfast. Though I have stepped aside from this contest, my dedication to the progress and welfare of our people is unwavering.
