The people of Kogi East are set to witness a new wave of experienced, credible, and people-focused leadership as former Director of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ameh M. Onoja Unekwuojo (JP), officially joins the race for the Kogi East Senatorial seat under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
After over two decades of meritorious service at INEC, Unekwuojo brings into the political arena a wealth of experience in governance, electoral administration, public service, and leadership within Nigeria’s complex democratic environment.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Media Dieectorate, headed by Odokina Ojima.
His decision to contest is driven by a strong commitment to deliver effective representation, attract meaningful development, and restore the confidence of the people in responsive leadership.
His campaign is expected to focus on key areas including youth empowerment, agriculture, food security, education, infrastructure development, job creation, and transparent representation at the National Assembly.
Political observers and community stakeholders have described his entrance into the race as timely, noting that his integrity, administrative competence, and deep understanding of the Nigerian political system position him as a candidate capable of effectively advancing the interests of Kogi East.
Speaking shortly after his declaration, Unekwuojo reaffirmed his dedication to selfless service and pledged to work tirelessly for the unity, progress, and prosperity of the people of Kogi East.
