The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo and the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Yusuf today, held Ankpa to a standstill to honour the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims.
Among other things, the powerful State architecture which was accompanied by both Federal and State Lawmakers, including Hon Danladi Danladi Aguye of Lokoja/Kogi-kotonkarfe Constituency were at Ankpa for the Commissioning of Projects initiated and Completed by Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims for the good of the people of the area.
The projects include a ten kilometres rehabilitation and asphalt overlay on some Ankpa township roads, a five hundred meters bridge connecting Uko(Olamaboro) and Biraidu (Ankpa), about six hundred units of solar powered streetlights, twenty unit of six and four Classroom Blocks, Solar powered boreholes and empowerment items running into hundreds of million.
Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in his remarks, commended Rt. Hon Halims for his sterling performance which according to him has greatly improved the fortunes of All Progressives Congress in Ankpa and thanked the people of Ankpa for coming out in very large numbers to receive him.
The Governor lashed at those who use public offices to enrich themselves rather than attract dividends to the electorates as he emphatically urged the people of Ankpa, and Kogites in general to demand good governance from public office holders adding that in ideal societies — the people’s human and natural resources are meant to improve their livelihoods, not the other way round.
In continuation of the exercise, the Governor after commissioning the rehabilitated township link roads ordered his Deputy, HE Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo to personally commission a solar powered borehole donated to a Mosque at Angwa and also inaugurate the Uko — Biraidu Bridge connecting Olamaboro to Ankpa Local Government Area.
Earlier in his remarks, the Deputy House Leader, Rt. Hon. Halims after extolling Governor Ododo went memory lane to recount his journey to the National Assembly. He credited it to God and the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who he described as a destiny helper as well as the wavering support of his constituents who he vowed to keep serving in truth.
Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims applauded the Governor’s efforts towards the security of lives and properties and other numerous intervention programs across Ankpa Federal Constituency. While describing him as a promise keeper, he appealed to him to look into the rehabilitation of Ankpa-Ofugo-Abejukolo road stressing that the route has a very significant economic benefit to both the natives and commuters.
