The Senate on Tuesday urged the Federal Government to immortalise the late elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, by naming a befitting national monument after him.
The resolution followed a motion by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, Senator Rufai Hanga and Senator Abdurrahaman Kawu Sumaila during today’s plenary.
Alhaji Dantata, a respected elder Statesman, renowned businessman, industrialist, and great philanthropist, died on June 28th at 94.
In moving the motion, the Deputy President of the Senate recalled Alhaji Dantata’s extraordinary and inspiring life and the indelible legacies he left behind to the glory of Almighty Allah.
Senator Barau told the Senate that the late Dantata was revered for his humility, religious devotion, philanthropy and dedication to community and national development.
” He channelled his resources into numerous philanthropic efforts. Through his foundation and personal initiatives, he funded the construction of schools, mosques, health centres, and other social welfare programs across northern Nigeria and beyond.
” He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an amazing man who contributed immensely to his immediate community and the country in general,” he said.
