The Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives and Member Representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has set the tone for a lively Sallah celebration across Ankpa Federal Constituency as he shares 680bags of rice to the 34 electoral wards of Ankpa Federal Constituency.
The brief ceremony was flagged off by the Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government, Hon. Mohammed Yahaya and witnessed by the Chairmen of Omala and Olamaboro Local Government Areas of Kogi State.
While cutting the tape, the Ankpa Council Boss, ably represented by His Vice, Hon. Halima Imam thanked the Federal Lawmaker for the gesture which she described as unprecedented.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Federal Lawmaker, ably represented by his Legislative Aide, Barr. Anthony Omali, noted that the outreach was aimed at contributing to the food needs of the people during and after the upcoming Sallah celebration.
Tony Omali, Esq added that the distribution was neither party inclined nor intended for political purposes but a cheer gesture motivated by Rep. Halims’ desire to extend maximum dividends of democracy to the people of the area especially in view of the current economic situation of the country.
On his part, the Community Leader of Ankpa, Alhaji Akpai Alfa while monitoring the distribution thanked Rep. Halims for his heart of service, he commended the Federal Lawmaker for his numerous interventions across Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency and urged other elected officials to always put the people first in their stewardship.
The Executive Chairmen of Omala and Olamaboro Local Government Areas were ably represented by Hon Nasiru Yahaya and Hon Abraham Francis respectively during the handing over of the rice which is estimated to worth about 200million naira.
In addition to the six hundred and eighty bags of rice which were evenly shared in a ratio of twenty bags par ward, another thousand bags of rice were set aside by Rt. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims for traditional rulers, Pensioners, Civil Service Unions, religious organisations, society leaders, Clerics, Halims Support groups, Vocational Unions and indigent Constituents.
