The Honorable Member representing Ankpa1 State Constituency at Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Akus Lawal, has commissioned the remodeled Ankpa Slaughterhouse today.
The commissioning exercise took place in two phases; while His Royal Highness, the Ejeh of Ankpa, Alh Dr Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed Yakubu led that of slaughterhouse, the Chairman of Ankpa local government, Engr Muhammed Yahaya led that of borehole respectively.
Akus was speaking during the ceremony, he thanked his constituents for their cooperation over the years, citing resilience as a major reason for the success story the constituency has recorded over the years.
It would be recalled that Ankpa local government slaughterhouse had been a source of bad smells, assailing the noses of the residents and the passers-by and blocking their fresh breath for years. However, the coming of Hon Akus has not only restored the hygiene of its surroundings, but also has created an enabling environment for the business of meat selling to thrive again.
He emphasized the need to keep a healthy environment, particularly the areas that concern food consumptions as they have direct effect on public health.
The lawmaker said his visit to the stakeholders in slaughterhouse motivated him to remodel the place with key features including complete drainage of the environment, motorized borehole, standby power plant, tarazzol slaughter arena and expanded arena for meat processing, thereby improving the hygiene of the environment.
He thanked the leaders, the management of Ankpa local government slaughterhouse who appreciated the gesture and inturn donated a cow to him, his constituents, particularly Engr Ismaila Berger for their constant support, motivation and encouragement.
He thanked His Royal Highness , the Ejeh of Ankpa and all the invitees for honoring his invitation and restated commitment to doing more for the people of Ankpa.
