Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has been awarded the prestigious Governor of the Year 2024 Digital Technology and Entrepreneurship Award by Nigeria Today Magazine.
The award ceremony, held today in Abuja, celebrated Governor Radda’s visionary approach to governance, particularly highlighting his unwavering commitment to empowering young talents in Katsina State.
According to Hon. Barr. Eze Chikamnayo, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Nigeria Today Magazine, the recognition stems from the Governor’s remarkable achievements in leveraging cutting-edge technology, fostering creativity, and supporting entrepreneurship.
The special award acknowledged Governor Radda’s comprehensive development strategy, which encompasses critical sectors including security, infrastructure, education, health, and utility provision.
Of particular note was the Governor’s strategic approach to poverty alleviation through robust support for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs), demonstrating a holistic vision for sustainable economic development.
The Governor, represented at the ceremony by Chief Press Secretary Malam Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed emphasized groundbreaking initiatives such as the Katsina Geographical Information Services (KATGIS). This innovative platform enables citizens to verify property ownership through recertified Certificates of Occupancy using advanced QR-code technology.
“KATGIS agency was equipped with both software and hardware facilities which cost less than a billion and the best you could find in the country today. This exemplifies the state’s commitment to digital transformation and citizen-centric governance,” he added.
Ibrahim further submitted that this award comes at a pivotal moment, with the Governor set to distribute operational grants and IT tools to 4,095 entrepreneurs in the coming week. This also reinforces Katsina State’s dedication to nurturing technological innovation and economic empowerment.
Ibrahim, however, expressed the Governor gratitude for the recognition, viewing the award not as a culmination but as a challenge to continue investing in the potential of Katsina State’s citizens.
