Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD CON, has extolled the World Bank’s approval for the second phase of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), which will support the construction of 75 secondary schools across Katsina State.

Commissioning the first phase of the slank’s construction project at Muhammadu Dodo Model Secondary School, Kofar Kaura Layout, Governor Radda emphasized the critical role of the World Bank’s intervention in enhancing the state’s learning ecosystem.

The Governor appreciates World Bank inclusion of teacher training, ICT skills, empowerment programmes, and essential facilities like laboratories, water points, and modern toilets.

“The World Bank’s support through AGILE, its Team, Project Coordinator, Dr. Mustapha Shehu and the State Ministry of Education have been instrumental in our mission to provide quality education,” Governor Radda stressed.

“We are committed to creating conducive learning environments that give talented children from all backgrounds access to excellent educational opportunities.”

Emphasizing the state’s commitment to educational excellence, Governor Radda announced the upcoming publication of a recent competency test for secondary school management and the construction of three special model secondary schools in each senatorial zone, fully equipped to meet national educational standards.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajia Zainab Musa Musawa said the recent teachers competency examination conducted in the state was to ensure schools are led by individuals with requisite skills and knowledge to drive educational excellence.

Also speaking, the state coordinator of AGILE, Dr. Mustapha Shehu, revealed that the program has already received over thirty billion Naira from the World Bank, with plans to expand teacher training, capacity building, and entrepreneurship skills programs in the second phase.
