Many constituents of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State have commended the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims for ensuring the Uko bridge comes to a reality adding that the Federal Lawmaker’s fulfillment of this promise is an indication that the people he represents are dear to his heart.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy House Leader, Comrade Muhammed Nasiru Adejoh reports that the idea of Uko bridge was envisaged to reduce the travel time from Olamaboro to Ankpa through the Okpo to Biraidu route in order to ease the mobility of both agricultural products and social services.
A constituent identified as Mrs Cecilia Idoko, who is a cash crop(cashew) trader expressed happiness over the project as she applauded the pace of the construction company. “I am happy about the work, may God bless Halims. This work means so much to us and the contractors too are very serious at executing the project fast. So very soon, the bridge will become operational and useful to us in transporting goods,” Cecilia said.
It can be recalled that Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims flagged-off the construction work of Uko – Biraidu link Bridge in January, 2023 through a facilitation from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and when opened, will contribute greatly in reducing travel time from Okpo, the headquarters of Olamaboro Local Government to Biraidu and other Suburb communities in Ankpa Local Government Area.
In addition, the project shall relatively advance the urban potential of the area and by implication — reduce the harsh travails of farmers, reduce the travel time of commuters and reduce logistics cost of traders who hitherto find it difficult to use the route as a result of their inability to cross the river boundary.
Also, a Facebook post monitored by the Deputy House Leader’s Media office revealed that an erudite constituent with the user name, Samad Akoji Ahmed updated “thank you for keeping to your promise… Olamaboro sincerely appreciate this wonderful project” during the weekend.
