The Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD CON, rallies citizens to unite in building a prosperous Katsina within a progressive Nigeria during the country’s 64th Independence Day celebration. The Governor also launches National Unity Fabric Initiative by Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu.

Governor Radda calls for patriotism and collective effort at the event organized by the Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with the Katsina State Government and the Safe Space Humanitarian Initiative. He emphasized the critical role of unity and cultural diversity in national progress.

Speaking on the National Unity Fabric Initiative, Governor Radda emphasized that this is a symbol of national cohesion and a potential economic driver, stating, “This initiative aligns with the present administration’s agenda of fostering creativity, supporting local enterprises, and celebrating our national identity.”

The Governor reflected on Nigeria’s journey since independence, noting that the country’s strength lies in its diversity and shared aspirations. “Today, we celebrate not just our freedom but the indomitable spirit of unity and resilience that has propelled us through challenges alike,” Radda remarked.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Governor Radda pointed to significant strides in education, healthcare, and job creation. He stressed the importance of security, saying, “We have expanded access to quality education, improved healthcare facilities, and created job opportunities through our agricultural and industrial initiatives, all while reinforcing security to ensure Katsina remains a beacon of hope and progress.”

In a move to empower women, the Governor announced a new scheme through the state women affairs ministry aimed at improving the living standards of 3,400 women across Katsina’s 34 local government areas.

The Governor, however, pledged the government’s continued collaboration with stakeholders to realize their shared vision, expressing hope for peace, unity, and progress across the nation.

In her address at the event, the wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajia Zulaihat Dikko Radda, emphasized that the launch of the National Unity Fabric symbolizes national identity in diversity. She called on all Nigerians to acknowledge the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers as the country celebrates its 64th year of independence.

Expressing gratitude to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Bola Tinubu, for her initiatives aimed at advancing women and children under the Renewed Hope Initiative, Hajia Zulaihat Radda highlighted the achievements of her own NGO, Safe Space Humanitarian Initiative (SASHIN). She noted that SASHIN has successfully implemented several programs in collaboration with government agencies, focusing on education, health, and assistance to women, children, the less privileged, and physically challenged individuals.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar Yaradua, in her welcome address, emphasized that the celebration provides an opportunity to reflect on Nigerian history and the unity that binds the nation. She commended Governor Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda for his efforts in securing the state and praised the First Lady of Katsina State for providing empowerment support to women, children, and vulnerable groups through her NGO.

This Independence Day celebration not only commemorated Nigeria’s journey as a nation but also showcased the commitment of Katsina State’s leadership to fostering unity, empowering citizens, and driving progress across all sectors of society.
