The National Institute for Democratic and Legislative Studies NILDS has urged Nigerians to jettison subversive ideas and accord high priority to democratic dispensation in the country.
In a message tagged “No Going Back on Democracy ” it asked Nigerians to relive confidence in the current democracy, stating that it is the only system were exchange of ideas , dialogue and collaboration is enshrined.
The Democratic institute restated that democracy is the bedrock and power to shape of our future, our heart beat, our strength and our voice.
It reminded Nigerians that in a democratic environment like ours in Nigeria, there is no room for violence, arson and killings, stating that all these negates the tenets of democracy.
It urged Nigerians to also support peace , unity, strength , resilience and development of the country through the instrumentality of people’s representation, saying mutual respect between the government and the people is a corollary to democratic norms.
