My dear Kogites,
I. I have the honour to write you this letter with a view to thanking all of you for your unwavering support for His Excellency, Alh Murtala Yakubu Ajaka ( Muri), the SDP gubernatorial candidate and winner of the Kogi State Governorship election of 11 Nov 2023.
2. You are all aware that the wrongful declaration of Ahmed Usman Ododo by some hired guns from INEC was the reason that ied Muri to drag the impostor-governor before the Election Tribunal. when it became clear that there was miscarriage of justice at the Tribunal, it is your loyalty and commitment that spurred Muri to pursue justice to the Court of Appeal. Without any doubt, you have shown character and resilience in the struggle.
3 From the leadership of Muri Organization we see and acknowledge you and your efforts, individually and collectively. Your push and personal sacrifices has brought us this far, even as the election manipulators deploy humongous resources to pervert the course of justice.
4. Today 11 July 2024 the injustice done to Kogi people by the Election Tribunal will be addressed by the Court of Appeal as it delivers its judgement. Toward this exercise, I enjoin all our supporters to take note as follows:
a Good Conduct. At the premises of the court you should continue to show. your usual characters of peaceful conduct and candour which has attracted commendations from Nigerians, including law enforcement officers. Maintain your exemplary conduct before ,during and after the judgment.
b *Prepare Your Mind* You must prepare your mind for whatever outcome. if you dont like what you hear, do not get disillusioned or upset. The truth is that whoever is given the judgement there is the likelihood of going for a final appeal at the Supreme Court.*In the event that’ Muri is denied justice at the Court of Appeal he will certainly approach the Supreme Court to reclaim his mandate**
c. *Still look unto the Judiciary*
We shall continued to look onto the judiciary for justice. The unofficial conversations on Ododo attempting to induce individual judges remain unfounded perceptions. More experienced judges at the higher courts will.have the duty to correct human errors and factors, if any, that could put the judiciary to ridicule and disrepute.
*WHAT MUST BE DONE*
5. As we receive the verdict of the Court of Appeal today let me request all our supporters to:
a. Remain calm no matter the outcome. To jubilate too much does not prepare you for the next round of the appeal. To uncontrollably grieve as a result of a bad outcome does not testify to your strong conviction of the victory ahead.
b. Resulting to self help under any circumstance should be avoided.
c. Any overture from the rogue government in Lokoja must be rejected,.
d. The exemplary leadership of Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka should serve as the much needed tonic for the struggle. I therefore call for total loyalty and prayers for our leader.
e. Keep hope alive, and be optimistic always.
f. Remember that sooner than later, we shall overcome in Kogi State.
f. Let us pray without ceasing. I call on each and everyone of us to pray. God can do it as the Almighty is Sufficient.
My best regards,
Col S Babanawa (rtd)
