The Deputy Leader of the 10th House of Representatives and Member Representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims, earlier today received the Management of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) in his office to discuss a permanent solution to epileptic power supply in Kogi East through a possible Executive – Legislative approach.
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC Management team at the session were the Managing Director who doubles as the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Barr. Joseph Chiedu Ugbo and the Executive Director of Legal Services who also doubles as the Company Secretary, Dr Steven Andzenge.
Rep. Halims while engaging in his roundtable discussion with the power company decried the sorry state of power in Kogi East stressing that it has become a thing of shame for elected officials in his area stressing that as it stands, he has exhausted justifying reasons for the age long power outage in the Local Governments Areas in context.
The Federal Lawmaker also highlighted some of the strategic projects executed in different communities single handedly facilitated by him to stimulate rural electrification. Rt. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims reiterated his commitment towards sustaining these projects in order to ensure that dividends of democracy are felt in all the nooks and crannies of his constituency.
The Managing Director recalled with nostalgia the efforts made by Rep. Halims towards the establishment of a power substation at Anyigba in the 9th National Assembly during which he was a member of the House Committee On Oil and Gas Resources. He extolled the “never giving up” approach of the Deputy House Leader towards delivering good governance to his people and urged him to sustain the tempo.
Earlier in his contribution, Dr Steven Andzenge noted that the NDPHC is a strong institution to the Government’s success in the area of electrification noting that their contributory role towards power supply is always taken seriously. “We will continue to offer our best efforts in a view to build synergy with other critical stakeholders of the power sector so as to ensure a better livelihood for Nigerians”, he said.
It can be recalled that in a matter Of urgent public importance raised on the floor of the lower chamber late last year, the Deputy House Leader who represents the good people of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency called on the Federal Government to make funds available for the establishment of a power substation at Anyigba in order to supply lights to the nine Local Government Areas of Kogi East.
