For Senator Ademola Solomon Olamilekan popularly known as “Yayi”, the super senator from Lagos west in the previous senate, and now representing Ogun west in the 10th Senate.
Senator Yayi who was elected one year ago after the 2023 general elections that saw him clinged to victory under the All Progressives Congress APC, to represent his people across Ogun west.
With his ranking advantage among his colleagues from Ogun state , Senator Yayi needed no introduction about his performance at the red chamber, even in Ogun west were he has relocated to , as according to indigenes, he attracted a lot of development to the area .
But, in politics there is always a time to render stewardship using the right channel as the Ogun state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), led by Comrade Victor Akinwale Olarenwaju organized a special session to mark not only the one year anniversary , but a day to reel out one year achievements on June , 20, 2024.
Senator Ademola Yayi who had assisted the area to erect a mini stadium, civic centre, provide both conventional and (solar) renewable electricity, along with roads in the headquarters of Yewa land , Ilaro and other parts of the senatorial district.
In the area of skill development, acquisition, capacity building and training /orientation along with empowerment, Senator Yayi has invested so much in human and capacity development.
Having done so much and the need to let the general public know the giant strides, led to the convening of the all important session.
Since the need to let the society know the achievements of their elected representatives lies with the watchdog of the society, organizing the program to render stewardship for a year in office was not out of place.
The event however turned to a big honor, a day of commendation and award for Senator Ademola Solomon Olamilekan, who stood out among his other colleagues, for not only executing his constituency projects to the satisfaction of the constituents and examiners, but also going beyond attracting developmental projects across the state.
The Victor Akinwale led NUJ gave a strong commendation on his strides in the area of Education, Health, provision of pipe borne water, boreholes, Roads and Employment opportunities in the last one year.
He maintained that the giant strides will go along way into outliving the Senator Yayi leadership, but a lasting legacy in recent times.
He appealed to other federal lawmakers across the country, not to only avail themselves the opportunity of primarily making laws, but attract both private and public investments to their areas, as demonstrated by the Senator representing ogun west, Senator Ademola Solomon Olamilekan popularly known as Yayi.
While praising him, he asked him to sustain the laudable tempo capable of attracting more development not only to Ogun west, but the entire state and Nigeria at large.
According to him, what Senator Yayi and other senators have done to both Central and the East of Ogun, was a demonstration of leadership acumen, and ability to do more, if given more responsibility and opportunities.
For Senator Ademola Solomon Olamilekan Yayi, a prophet honored at home could best be described as his giant strides to his community and the entire Ogun state.
