Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing the living standards of the people
The governor made the statement during the 82nd Birthday celebration of Senator Alex Usman Kadiri in Odu-Ogboyaga, Dekina Local Government Area.
Represented by his Deputy Comrade Joel Salifu, the governor emphasized that he considers himself the primary servant of the state, emphasizing his commitment to serving the people.
He assured the citizens that they will not be disappointed with his leadership. He highlighted the recent salary increase for civil servants and the timely payment of pensions as indicators of positive changes to come for the state.
The Deputy Governor mentioned that he attended the event at the request of his boss to represent him at Senator Alex Usman Kadiri’s 82nd Birthday celebration. He praised the former senator for his influence in the region, describing him as a courageous political figure who always speaks the truth.
He highlighted the achievements of the former senator, assuring the people that his government is working towards enhancing existing structures.
Regarding development projects, he disclosed plans to rehabilitate Anyigba/Dekina road and Idah township road, as well as efforts to improve electricity supply to Kogi East.
He urged the residents of the area to avoid engaging in politics of bitterness and support the current administration, which he said was divinely elected.
Acknowledging the Catholic bishop of Idah diocese, he expressed gratitude for the bishop’s honesty in dealing with politicians, pledging to govern the state with a strong sense of morality.
Governor Ododo prayed for the former senator’s good health and longlife.
Earlier in his admonition, the Catholic bishop of Idah diocese, Most Reverend Anthony Adaji, encouraged the people to prioritize their faith. He called on the political class to lead with integrity, expressing delight over the recent salary increase for workers in the state.
The bishop commended the governor for selecting Idah township road for rehabilitation, indicating that he is on the right path. He also suggested that Dekina township requires improvement.
He advised the governor to continue serving the people with integrity and urged politicians to prioritize the state’s interests over personal gain.
He thanked the former senator for his positive impact on the lives of the people in Kogi East, which led to a diverse group of individuals attending his birthday celebration. He also prayed for his longlife and sound health.
