few days to deliver the judgement over issues bothering 11th November 2023 in kogi state, allegation of bribery and corruption to the tune of N6B has enveloped the 3-man governorship Tribunal, for them to sway judgement in favour of one of the litigants in the case pending before the court.
In as much as KYF takes the news as one of those from the rumour mills in a such circumstances as this , it cannot be ward off with a wave of hands without raising alarm, particularly that the state has a record of such bungled justice in the past due to alleged exchange of tones of money between the tribunal judges and litigants .
Though, the tribunal judges have demonstrated decency , spirit of fair play and commitment ,to right the wrongs in the said election, by their posture so far, the tones of naira said to have been conveyed to them is tempting to any mortal in such position of trust in this country.
We therefore ,unequivocally condemn the move by any of the litigants involved in the alleged shady deal to influence the mind of the judges to tamper with dispensation of justice in this case.
From records , the 3-man tribunal judges were known to be people with proven integrity , and we hope they will endure till the end, to ensure justice is seen to be done by their judgment , rather than considering their personal interest in this case.
The judges should know that survival of democracy in Nigeria is at stake here , not survival of individual person , group of persons, stakeholders, regional leader , or political parties.
Kogi people have suffered untold hardships from bungled justice in the past ; that accounted why the state is enmeshed in various crises or the other with no end in sight .The people of kogi needs justice , deliverance and divorce from despicable brutish, wicked and tribal chauvinists that have taken the state by its jugular for years, to feather their political nest.
It must be noted that one of the litigants and his cohorts have history of pull down syndrome trailing his political carrier since he emerged at the corridor of power in kogi ,nay political landscape in the country.
For the record, no sooner he emerged as the chief executive of the state that he cowed everyone to his submission, milked the state dry, wasted the collective wealth in pursuing his personal political ambition to become number one citizen of this nation.
As power drunk that he is , he threw caution and morality to the wind , expressed disregards for elders, disrespected regional stakeholders, including his colleagues, governors , particularly from the northern region , calling them derogatory names . Eventually, he Lost the contest to a refined elder statesman who has seen it all and whom he worked assiduously to truncate his ambition.
In the last presidential election, he distanced himself, in principle from the campaign of his party by forming a rival campaign committee, classifying other committees as a leper. That accounted for the reason his party did not shine at the polls in the presidential election in his district . The recòrds are there .
Not done, after leaving government, he kept up the momentum of war -like behaviour against Mr president by refusing to submit himself to anti graft agency over alleged financial misappropriation levied against him as demanded by the law.
Rather than answer the call of the law , he resulted into organising protest in the country on the guise of defending his fundamental right . Organised protest rocked kogi, Nassarawa and Lagos states to that effect in order to cast aspersion against the federal government .More states would have joined if not the intervention of the power that be .
The same person is being alleged to have loaded tones of tempting hard currency to sway justice in the favour of his candidate at the governorship Tribunal . Another attempt to fight the federal government under Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu who is out to ensure justice for all under his administration.
In view of the avowed stand of this man from kogi , who has drawn battle line with humanity , we demand justice , nothing but justice to put an end to this enfant terrible who sees impunity as his watch words..
