By not interfering in the matter, the President demonstrated respect for the cultural heritage and core values of the Kano Emirate, one of the most revered traditional institutions in the country.
In contrast, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s earlier decision to decentralize the Kano Emirate and dethrone Emir Sanusi was widely criticized as an affront to tradition and cultural norms. The Governor’s actions sparked widespread outrage and undermined the integrity of the Emirate.
The reinstatement of Emir Sanusi is a victory for tradition and a testament to the enduring importance of cultural institutions in Nigeria. It is a reminder that our traditional institutions are the bedrock of our existence and must be respected and preserved for future generations.
