The unabated water scarcity in Lokoja has persisted as residents expressed worry that the problem is beyond the state government.
For eight years, Great Lokoja Water Works has engaged in epileptic or outright non supply of pipe borne water to residents resulting in frequent epidemic.
The moribund water works abandoned by the state has created untold hardship and exposed residents to water vendors both in tankers and trucks.
A visit to government housing unit across the state from 500 units, Omeruo Estate, Phase 1 and 2 , Workers village, Otokiti among many other adjoining communities in the metropolis had complained of lack of pipe borne water over the years.
As at press time , a truck of water costs between N800 and N1000, pure water goes for N400, while a drum of water been sold by water tankers goes for 1000 / 1200.
With this harsh and heat weather, residents have resorted to drinking well, boreholes and stream water to survive the difficult situations.
The residents complained bitterly of the state government not telling the truth about the perennial water shortage in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.
