Kogi State is always said to be in the news on the sad and bad side.
Former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello of Kogi State who christened himself as the”White Lion” hardly knew a day will come and power will slip off his hands.
Bello wielded power while he held forth for eight years as Kogi State governor. In tandem with life, power went off his sleeves on January 27, 2024 and Bello coiled back to his original shelve – an ordinary Kogi citizen.
Oh Bello, oh Bello. If only Bello had realized in his officialdom that power is transient, perhaps he would have treaded his office with caution. But Bello wielded power, assumed an unimaginable terror and demigod to the very Kogi people he was to oversea. Now that power is gone forever.
Sometimes ago ,there was a rumor of the creation of the office of the former governor of kogi state at government house lokoja ,but the state governor media crew were quick to debunk the news and described it as fake ,but the reality of the news is now at hand sight as the former governor Bello is seeing driving inn and out of the government house attending burial and receiving visitors in the spirit of continuity .
Unlike in the past and the practice of other states in Nigeria that the tenure of a governor comes to an end after the expiration of his or her term in office ,Bello and his wife and children are still being accommodated in lugard house and the questions on the lips of kogites is ” What did the former governor forgot in government house ?
Why is he still staying at the official residence of the governor ?? Who says Yahaya Bello is not in his third term in office ?
Kogites are calling on the former white lion to give peace a chance to avoid public disgrace as the general public are getting set to protest his continuing staying at the government house against the rules.
It is also time the inspector general of police , Director department of state security services and others should ensure the former governor relocate to his personal house either in Abuja ,Okene or any part of the country as he cant continue to enjoy the luxury of tax payers money after exiting the office.
The same way he unilaterally sent serving traditional rulers on exile at the eve of his exit in office, Bello deserves an exile from the soil of Kogi State
Unconfirmed report has it that the present first lady of kogi state ,Mrs Sefinat Ododo has been denied access to her office for reasons best known to Bello alone. At the moment Kogites are worried as they cant have an official meeting with the first lady at her office which calls for concern.
