As a follow up to his earlier visits to Agojeju Odo and Bagana communities in the wake of the clash between the Fulani herrders and the Agojeju Community that left scores dead and properties destroyed, the Caretaker Chairman today met with Elders of both parties, along with security men and transition Committee members in Bagana.
In his address to the two communities, the Chairman reiterated his commitment to ensure lasting peace between the herders and their hosts communities and to ensure total peace in his area.
Responding, the elders of the Fulani and the Igala/Bassa communities also committed to ensuring peaceful coexistence between them. This commitment led to the formation of a peace committee that comprises representatives of both communities, whose mandates include fishing out the perpetrators of this heinous crime in their communities.
Later on at Abejukolo, the Headquarters of Omala Local Government Area, the Chairman, Hon. MarkNoble also met with District Head, Gagos of the various communities, community leaders and members of his transition committee. Hon. Marknoble charged all community leaders and the traditional Rulers to warn their wards against acts that threaten the peace and security of the land. He warns that anyone caught in any act that threatens the peace and security of the communities would have himself to blame as the government would wield its long stick.
