Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced the immediate commencement of borehole drilling projects in remote villages across Kankara Local Government.
This initiative, along with the construction of a secondary school in Tsamiyar Jino within Kankara, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and community welfare in the state.
Governor Radda made this declaration Yesterday, 1st February 2024 during the APC electioneering campaign for the Kankara-Sabuwa-Faskari federal constituency seat, held at Garaji ward.
Contractors are slated to mobilize to the project sites this Friday to kickstart the borehole construction.
Furthermore, the Governor assured the recruitment of willing young men from Tsamiyar Jino for training to serve as personnel of the state community security watch. This measure aims to bolster local security and protect communities against potential threats.
Governor Radda emphasized his administration’s unwavering resolve to address security challenges, highlighting the recent inauguration of the Security Watch Corps in Zamfara as part of a coordinated effort to tackle insecurity in the North West region.
The electioneering campaign follows a court verdict mandating the conduct of elections in sixteen polling units in Kankara and four in Faskari, where elections were not held during the previous election cycle.
In a show of support, Senator Muntari Dan Dutse pledged ten million naira for empowerment support and assistance to vulnerable individuals in each of the local governments in the zone, in addition to providing one hundred bags of fertilizer to each polling unit where elections will be conducted.
Engineer Shehu Danhatu Tafoki, the APC candidate for the Kankara-Faskari Sabua federal constituency seat, urged for a large voter turnout, highlighting that elections would be held only at the Garagi ward in Kankara and Daudawa in Faskari.
Various dignitaries including Lawal Abdu, member of the state Assembly representing Kankara, Alhaji Anas Isah, Chairman of Kankara Local Government, and Mansir Jerry, APC Chairman of the area, expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for his visionary leadership and promised commitment to the development of the region.
Chairman of Faskari Local Government, Bala Ado, commended the state governor for appointing sons of the area into sensitive appointments like the SGS, commissioner, and other political office holders, stating: “We appreciate Governor Radda for his commitment to inclusive governance and for recognizing the capabilities of our people in serving the state.”
Alhaji Ado however urged the state government to reopen the Government Science Secondary Schools in Daudawa and Faskari, as well as the cattle market in the area. He also appealed for the construction of the Bakori-Tafoki-Daudawa-Bilbis road to enhance connectivity and accessibility in the region.
Governor Radda, accompanied by his deputy, Alhaji Faruq Lawal Jobe, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Yahya Daura, and other officials, also visited Daudawa in Faskari Local Government as part of the electioneering campaign.
