On this day precisely eight years ago, whilst coasting home to victory at the 21 November 2015 Gubernatorial elections you suddenly and abruptly concluded your earthly journey, leaving behind indelible landmarks on the democratic landscape both in Kogi State and Nigeria. Though we were gripped by the constriction of grief, we have found strength in the enduring legacy you bestowed upon us.
Eight years down the line, your political legacy has continued to evolve positively. The foresight you had for your son, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, which you immediately proclaimed after the APC primaries in August 2015 eventually materialised and ushered him in as the Executive Governor of Kogi State after your demise. True to your vision, he has not only upheld but has fortified the legacies you left behind. He has adhered steadfastly to your political ideologies, skillfully navigated and fortified your political framework, mirroring your trademark democratic governance while staunchly upholding progressive principles in Kogi State. He has admirably deepened the ideals of the party you founded in Kogi State, leaving a lasting impact.
Even in your absence, your memory is held in pride and gratitude. Almost 8 years after your passing, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, posthumously honored your memory, by appointing me as the Honorable Minister of Steel Development to rejuvenate the Steel Industry in Nigeria of which the Ajaokuta Steel Company in Kogi State is a big component.
Remaining true to your vision and ideology, we spearheaded the All Progressives Congress to victory at the 11 November 2023 Gubernatorial elections in Kogi State. Serving as the Director General of the Campaign Council, we secured a resounding victory, ensuring the continuation of the progressive ideals championed by the incumbent, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON that has ushered in Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo as our Governor-Elect.
Your vision for a united, prosperous, and greater Kogi State serves as an unquenchable compass guiding our actions.
Rest peacefully, Adoja Edeee, the Prince of the Niger. Your legacy lives on through our collective commitment to seeing Kogi State as a united entity living as one people.
