Again the desperate camp of Mr Yahaya Bello l, Governor of Kogi State has resorted to barefaced forgery and crude falsehood in the forlorn hope that the definite disgrace that awaits him and his puppet cousin in this weekend elections can be averted.
This time they have forged and attributed a statement to our Campaign’s Head of New Media, Mr I D Ijele claiming the leading candidate in the election, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka has withdrawn from the race and collapsed his structure to support the candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Elder Leke Abejide.
Ordinarily, we would have ignored their criminal tactics, but we owe a duty to the good people of Kogi State and, indeed, all followers of the trend in the ongoing electoral process to set the records straight
This, of course, is a dense falsehood just like their claim on August 11th (2023) that all the SDP Chairmen in the state had decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Shamelessly Mr Bello, a governor who took the oath of honour went ahead to provide miscreants with Kaftans and caps to make them look respectable and then invited them to Government House Lokoja to pose for a group picture.
His media aide circulated a press statement passing off the touts as LGA and Zonal Chairmen of the SDP before were busted their fraud.
On August 30, they planted another fake news in an unknown rogue online blog claiming Ajaka had met with Bello and Ododo and had stepped down with Ododo!
The latest forgery of our campaign letterhead and the false claim of Ajaka stepping down for Abejide follows a familiar pattern of falsehood by these outlaws occupying the sacred seat of power in our dear state
For the records, Ajaka remains solid in the race, and by the overwhelming support of the people , he enjoys that he will emerge. Governor-Elect when the votes of the election are counted and results declared.
We caution Mr Bello and his gang of outlaws to at least respect the Office he violently grabbed in 2019 after inheriting his first tenure.
