The Katsina State Government will soon inaugurate adhoc committees to oversee the distribution of food items to local governments in the State, yet to receive the palliative materials it provided for residents.
The state governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda disclosed this today in Funtua when he launched the distribution of over 2,000 bags of rice and consignments of fertilizer and water-pumping machines, donated by the Member representing Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency, Barrister Abubakar Muhammad.
Speaking at the Funtua township stadium, Radda assured that the distribution at the remaining local governments would be done, as soon as the exercise is conducted in Daura.
He said that the State Government had carefully identified widows, divorcees left with children, aged men and women and other vulnerable individuals as target beneficiaries.
According to him, the beneficiaries who will receive the bags of rice are also entitled to a N10,000 cash gift, urging those entrusted with the distribution of the items to be just and fair.
Governor Radda further said that the State Government has already provided vehicles to convey the rice and the beneficiaries to their various electoral wards.
While appreciating Barr. Mohammed for supporting 1,500 farmers from Funtua and Dandume with the donated fertilizers and water-pumping machines to boost their agro activities, Radda urged other Katsina lawmakers to replicate the gesture of Funtua/Dandume federal constituency legislator.
