The Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O.Sulaiman felicitates Nigerians, especially Muslim Ummah, on the celebration of Eid-el Maulud, the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW).
He encouraged them to utilize the moment to fortify their belief in God and embrace a shared sense of purpose.
This was contained in a message to mark the Muslim festival of Eid-el Maulud.
The statement reads: “I wish my Muslim brothers and sisters, in Nigeria and across the globe, joyous and spiritually uplifting Eid el-Maulud celebrations. We thank Almighty Allah for making us see this glorious day set aside to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him).
“As we mark this day, let us remember, cherish, and imbibe the virtues Prophet Muhammad exemplified. He exemplified virtues of patience, love, tolerance, and perseverance. He devoted his life to building understanding among people while pursuing his faith. He had respect for other people’s faiths.
“In our pursuit of enhancing democratic stability, legislative efficiency, and public participation, we have organized numerous conferences emphasizing the importance of fostering values and ethics related to religious tolerance. We will continue this effort as we progress in our commitment to democratic principles and the unity and advancement of our nation. ”
“This year’s occasion is another opportunity to further thank the Almighty Allah for his continued guidance and intervention in the challenges in our society,”
He assured that NILDS will continue to do its utmost best to ensure that the necessary legislative frameworks support government actions and continue to provide technical assistance to members and committees in the legislature towards evidence-based decision-making.
