What was supposed to be a gathering of political enthusiasm, according to the organizers in Ankpa LG today, turned into a violent altercation as the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally organized by Dr. Usman Ogbo took a dark turn in Ankpa LGA. Tensions escalated rapidly, leading to physical clashes and leaving several attendees injured.

The incident unfolded when party members and attendees, who were promised a sum of ₦10,000 per head as a gesture of support, demanded for payment. Frustration grew among them as they realized they were denied and empty-handed.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Ankpa township ward chairman, Danladi Negedu, allegedly attacked and physically assaulted a councillor representing Ankpa ward 1 during the heated argument over the missing funds. The councillor sustained injuries, and chaos erupted as others attempted to intervene and restore order.

The turnout, which was extremely low, due to the total rejection of their party candidate, was also a frustrating moment for the organizers. Dr. Usman Ogbo was seen panting, walking angrily, accusing the people of his community for betraying him and not supporting his candidate.

The injured councillor, Honorable Zahara Fatima was immediately taken for medical attention and admitted, other’s sustained minor injuries due to protest for their payment, while they were dispersed by security agents present.

Speculation emerged regarding the spiritual aspect of this unfortunate incident. Some locals questioned whether it was the aftermath of recent prayers and blessings received from revered spiritual leaders, who had fervently prayed and cursed anyone who is attempting to bringing chaos to Ankpa, as they have resolved to fully support Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, who also received blessings in Angwa Ogebe during his visit.
