4th National Tertiary Admissions Performance – Merit Award
After our plenary today, I went to the Body of Benchers, Abuja, where I served as the Special Guest of Honour at the fourth National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award (NATAP – M) Ceremony of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
University of Ilorin in Kwara State emerged as the best institution with an aggregate of 12 points. The institution got the prize of N500m.
Ahmad Bello University, Zaria, which came second with an aggregate of 11 points, got the prize of N75m and the Borno State University, Maiduguri, Borno State, emerged as second runner-up and got the award of N25m
Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna State, which emerged as the best in the polytechnics category, got a prize of N50m; Federal College of Education, Zaria, Kaduna State, came first in the colleges of education category with an award of N50m and PEFTI Film Institute, Lagos State emerged as the best in innovative enterprise institute category got a prize of N10m.
I commended the Registrar, the management and staff of JAMB for initiating the awards to honour and encourage best practices and improve productivity. Recognising and rewarding individuals and institutions who have demonstrated exceptional performance in the admission process is truly commendable.
Their commitment to maintaining high standards and promoting meritocracy in education deserves our highest commendation. And to us in the National Assembly, it is a sign of respect for the rule of law by our institutions. This way, we believe if other agencies of government follow their footstep, Nigeria will be the land of our dreams as envisaged by our founding fathers.
Once again, congratulations to all the award recipients. It is our sincere prayer and expectation that JAMB will continue to achieve greater strides and bountiful achievements, fostering the emergence of even more individuals and institutions of excellence to benefit our beloved nation, Nigeria.
