The Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and Member Representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has described the death of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi as a Collosal Loss that has created an irreplaceable vacuum in Igala Land.
The Federal Lawmaker disclosed this while attending the eight days prayer of the Late General at his country home in Okura, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
While condoling with the wife and families left behind, Rep. Halims urged the bereaved to take solace in the fact that he lived and died as not just a fulfilled man in his military career but a man whose lifetime achievement immortalises him by virtue of his premier ranking in the hierarchy of Naval Officers.
Rep. Halims refreshed with grief, the antecedents of the late octogenarian adding that his contributions to the peace and stability of Nigeria’s forth Republic forms part of the solid foundation upon which the democracy we are enjoying today was laid.
The deceased, Late Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi was one of Nigeria’s finest military officers of all time with so many medal and national honour to his credit. He was the Chief of Defence Staff under former President Olusegun Obasanjo between 1999 to 2003.
Among other dignitaries, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comr Joel Salifu Oyibo, the Ejeh and Chairman of Ankpa Traditional Council of Chiefs, HRH Alhaji Sadiq Ahmed Yakubu as well as the honourable Minister Of Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Abubakar Audu all attended the posthumous prayers.
The Federal Lawmaker also visited the family of his former colleague at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Zekeri who passed on last week to condole and commiserate with them over their loss as he prayed to almighty Allah to rest his soul.
