Idah local government council secretary who doubles as Chairman, Forum Of Secretaries in Kogi State, Alhaji Alhaji has expressed shock on the death of the Ex – Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi.
The elder statesman passed on Sunday, 30th June, 2024 in Abuja at the age of 76.
He was highly instrumental to the stability of this democracy as his military versatility made the Ex – president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him as Chief of Defence Staff in 1999 – 2003 when many were still sceptical about the survival of this democracy due to the incessant military incursion into politics.
“It is so disheartening to hear the demise of the great Igala son in the person of Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi today.
“He was a thoroughbred professional who worked his work while in the service and continued to serve Igala land upon retirement with dexterity and passion for the unity and progress of the land.
“My sincere condolences to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ododo, His Royal Majesty, Ata Igala, Alaji Opaluwa Oguche, his wife Hajia Fatima Ogohi, other members of his family and the entire Igala people.”
Alhaji Alhaji who spoke from the Okura home of the late Admiral as he urged the Igala people to reflect on the serial departure of Igala greats in the past and most recent times, so as to rally round the few left in Senator Ahmadu Ali, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, Capt Idris Wada for unity, love and development of the land.”
Alhaji Alhaji continued “It is sad to note the death of great Igala icons like Dr Steven Achema, Prince Abubakar Audu, Chief Abdullahi Ibrahim SAN, Arc Gabriel Yakubu Aduku and very lately Dr Alex Usman Kadiri in quick successions.
“It calls for sober reflection and urgent review of our leadership recruitment processes with the view to recreating a new order that will redefine our race.”He concluded.
