The outstanding leadership and people’s oriented stewardship of the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has yielded yet another fruit by way of an approval for the distribution of “relief assistance to persons affected by herders – crop farmers crisis” in the Federal Constituency.
This development is contained in a letter signed by the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Adamu Abdullahi Usur, wherein he noted that the approval was based on assesment conducted by the NEMA Abuja Operations office to determine the level of damage and Federal Government’s assistance required.
Among other things, 833 bags of rice, maize and salts each; 83 cartons of seasoning and vegetable oils each; 833 pieces of plastic buckets, cups, plates and spoons each; 717 pieces of foams, blankets and brocades each as well as another 833 pieces of 6yards wax prints, children, men and women’s clothes have been approved for the affected persons.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Deputy House Leader on Media and Publicity, Comr. Muhammed Nasiru, the Federal Lawmaker is highly excited by the development which he pursued very dearly and shall ensure possession of the items on or before fortnight of his acknowledgement of the approval.
It can be recalled that the Federal Lawmaker had earlier visited one of the Internally Displaced Persons Camp (IDP) for a personal assessment of the extent of damages caused. While on the visit, he donated the sum of two million naira and promised to follow up with a Legislative approach of facilitating the necessary government support.
