It is with great pleasure and with utmost respect that I stand before you today as primus inter pares having been privileged to have your endorsement on consensus ad idem to lead this great group at this auspicious time in our political life and history. It is an honour I will never take for granted.
This great forum of ours is the administrative and political engine room of the third tier of government and we must take the bull by the horn to provide the kind of leadership that is unprecedented, novel and highly impactful to the delight of our immediate bosses – the council chairmen, the executive governor of the state, H.E Usman Ododo and of course kogi state political juggernaut, the immediate past governor, H.E Alhaji Yahaya Adoiza Bello.
I wish to reiterate that this enormous responsibility bestowed on us as the SLG to our various local government council is no mean feat in view of the expectations from us at the party level, civil servants, the state government and of course the general public. I therefore urge us not to relent on our oars so we can leave our footprints on the sands of time.
This new leadership of our forum will love to do things differently so our bosses will be proud of us to have made the right choices through imaginative prowess and intellectual capacity of our esteemed members beginning with the following:
1. Establishment of a consultant group to identify productive mineral resources in commercial quantities in our various local government areas.
2. Establishment of a political THINK TANK to help rebrand our political party to market our activities to the public with the view to accepting us at the grassroots level.
3. Establishment of a welfare committee for the group from amongst ourselves
The above are few of our immediate plans as we work towards other long term projects that will add value to our government at various levels and ultimately make the reelection of our governor in 2027 a fait accompli.
I will not end my address without giving utmost respect to His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoiza Bello whose political sagacity, magnanimity and vision have placed us and by extension kogi on a new political space that have changed the narrative of election in the state. On behalf of the forum of SLG’s, we will forever be grateful to him as it is our collective interests to ensure he occupies a higher political office which we will graciously work for him come 2027.
We also wish to congratulate H.E Alhaji Usman Ododo on his electoral victory as we are standing by and with him in his tribunal matter which Insha Allah he will come out victorious up to the supreme Court as the election was free and fair thus; he won squarely.
And we pledge our loyalty, support and commitment to our bosses – the council chairmen with whom we are prepared to ensuring they succeed on all sides of governance as the closest people to the common man.
