The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has commended the impactful empowerment programmes undertaken by legislative members and political office holders in the state, emphasizing their dedication to serving their communities.
The governor expressed his satisfaction during the launch of two separate empowerment programmes, one sponsored by the state House of Assembly member representing Malumfashi and the other by the Managing Director of the State Water Board at the Malumfashi Empowerment Center.
Governor Radda lauded the legislative member’s personal commitment to drilling twenty-five boreholes across twelve electoral wards in the area.
He also acknowledged the MD Water Board for supporting three hundred locals with JAMB forms, settling WAEC fees for fifty candidates, and providing blankets for 970 Almajirais.
The governor highlighted the reciprocal nature of the MD Water Board’s gesture, reflecting the support the community had extended to him during his education.
He urged leaders to make sacrifices for their communities.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Yahya Daura, expressed optimism about the APC’s victory in future elections, attributing it to Governor Radda’s commitment, particularly in the fight against banditry.
State House of Assembly member Aminu Ibrahim stated that he committed sixteen million one hundred and sixty thousand naira to support the programmes beneficiaries. The twenty-five boreholes were strategically located across the twelve electoral wards, identified by APC officials and local government councillors.
The Managing Director of the State Water Board, Engineer Tukur Hassan Tingilin, pledged assistance for candidates from low-income families securing admissions by helping settle their registration fees. He appealed for more state government support to accommodate additional qualified candidates from impoverished families to further their education.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Managing Director of the State Irrigation Authority, traced the educational journey of the MD Water Board and highlighted the crucial role community support played in their success.
Local council chairman Alhaji Maharazu Adamu Dayi appealed to the state government to consider taking over Makaurachi Community School, established approximately twenty-five years ago.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the three district heads, Galadiman Katsina District Head of Malumfashi, Retired Justice Saddiq Abdullahi Mahuta, thanked Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for appointing more people from the area.
