A member representing Ankpa 1 in the Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt Honorable Lawal Akus has introduced “Akus Student Palliatives” of 10,000 to an initial beneficiaries of 150.
Akus who is the chairman House of Assembly committee on Finance and Economic Planning role out the students scholarship to mitigate the immediate and midterm demands of students from the area.
The palliatives first of it’s kind is coming at a time of huge complaints from parents sorrounding the removal of fuel subsidy by the government, and the inability of the state government to introduce wage allowances.
Lawal Akus intervention was coming at a time when many students are facing difficulties both public and private schools over the parents inability to offset some major and minor bills including school fees.
The list that was frugally compiled covering the wards in Ankpa 1 included the names and account information of beneficiaries drawn from the State and Federal Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, School of Health Technology and Health Technology, as well as private institutions who are to benefit from the gesture.
In an instruction letter cited and addressed to the management of United Bank of Africa UBA, the state Lawmaker instructed that his decision was taken to salvage education backwardness in the area, as the sum of 1, 500, 000.00 was set aside for the initial beneficiaries of 150.
He promised to sustain the tempo the provide social security to the people of the area in all sectors.
