The Okun people of Kogi state are incredibly rich in culture, human resources, intellectuals, and abundant mineral and natural resources for several reasons.
Rich cultural heritage: The Okun people have a deep and diverse cultural heritage that is passed down through generations. Their customs, traditions, language, music, dance, and art forms showcase their unique identity and contribute to the rich tapestry of Nigerian culture.
Human resources: The Okun people are blessed with a population that consists of highly talented and skilled individuals across various fields. From entrepreneurs to professionals in various sectors, the Okun people possess a wide range of expertise and knowledge that can be harnessed for the development and progress of Kogi state.
Sound intellectuals: The Okun people have a long history of producing intellectuals who have excelled in academia, research, and various fields of knowledge. Their educational achievements and intellectual contributions have contributed to the growth of the state and the nation as a whole.
Abundance of mineral and natural resources: The geographical location of Okun in Kogi state is dotted with an abundance of mineral and natural resources. These resources include solid minerals such as limestone, granite, tin, columbite, and coal, as well as vast agricultural lands, forests, and water bodies. The presence of these resources offers tremendous potential for economic growth, industrial development, and sustainable livelihoods for the Okun people and the entire state.
Given this combination of rich culture, human resources, intellectuals, and abundant natural resources, the Okun people of Kogi state have the foundation for attaining remarkable development and progress. With proper planning, utilization, and harnessing of these resources, Okun can become a thriving hub of cultural, economic, and social prosperity.
In this scenario, the three gubernatorial candidates that emerged from Okun land have distinguished themselves through their exceptional communication skills. Their ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner sets them apart. They all possesses natural charisma and an engaging presence that captivates the audience in most cases, making them effective communicators and influencers.
However, while both Leke and Braimoh possess deep intellectual knowledge and offer valuable insights, they may lack some of the standout qualities that make Dino the preferred choice. Leke might struggle with effective communication or have limited experience in leadership roles. Braimoh, on the other hand, could demonstrate exceptional intellectual knowledge but struggle with practical application or lack the ability to inspire and motivate others.
It is important to recognize and celebrate these invaluable assets and work towards their preservation, promotion, and sustainable utilization for the benefit of the Okun people and the entire state of Kogi.
Again, among the three eminently qualified gubernatorial candidates in Okun, Dino seems to stand out as the preferred choice based on several factors of good leadership. Senator Dino Melaye possesses a passion for the development of Kogi state, a history of good governance, and enjoys the wide spread of support from his political party at the grassroots level. Only the political watercocks in the PDP seems to have masqueraded their identities.
First and foremost, Dino has shown an unwavering passion for the development of Kogi state. He has consistently displayed a deep commitment to improving the lives of the people and driving progress. This passion serves as a driving force behind his efforts, ensuring that the needs and aspirations of the people are placed at the forefront of his agenda.
Moreover, Dino has a proven track record of good governance. His history of effective leadership, whether in previous public positions or through notable achievements, demonstrates his capability to address the diverse needs and challenges of the state. He possess the necessary experience, skills, and knowledge to lead Kogi state towards a brighter and better future.
Additionally, the fact that Dino enjoys the wide spread of support from the people and his political party are significant advantages. These supports provides him with a larger network of resources and opportunities to effect meaningful change. With the backing of a strong political party, Dino will have the capacity to implement policies and programs that will bring about positive transformation throughout Kogi state.

Nevertheless, we must use our binocular lenses to see things beyond personal limitations, unfavorable political circumstances and personal gains. We must be intentional and deliberate about success and now is the time to make the necessary changes and decisions.
It is important to recognize that while Dino may not possess all the qualities that are traditionally expected from someone representing his kinsmen at the Lugard’s house, it is crucial to consider the following scriptures:
Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 – I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
Isaiah 55:8-9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Dino cannot attain perfection, nor is it likely for him to ever do so, but the struggle to ensure his victory at Lugard’s house must be our unified determination, transcending sentiments and political mischief. We must stand together and steadfastly support him, for should we fail to seize this opportunity (God forbid), the chance of an Okun citizen becoming a governor may elude us for another 24 years. Those who fuel political divisions and assume authority, with hopes of returning power to Okun land after 8 years, may not even be alive to witness the continuation of this important battle.
Let us make hay while the sun shines, and now that the pendulum swings.
