The Allied People’s Movement, APM has warned the National Assembly from accepting the traditional budget presentation for 2027 appropriation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu scheduled for December.
A statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of APM, Abubakar Yusuf queried the three previous budgets of the 2024, 2025, and 2026 particularly on the capital elements.
Yusuf said uptill now , Nigerians does not know which year’s budget is been implemented, as the three years in a row since the inception of the APC-led administration in 2023 are running concurrently.
While stating the obvious, he said since it’s inception of his administration in May 2023, President Tinubu has been running Nigeria’s budget haphazardly, filled with external borrowings every now and then and approved by the rubber stamp National Assembly.
“Tinubu has destroyed the January to December budget circle restored by late President Muhammadu Buhari eight years administration and replaced with zero year budget implementation. ”
“As we speak , 30% of 2026 budget has just been implemented with payment been approved when we are almost in the last lap of the year or the fourth quarter of 2026.”
“What will then be the rational behind proposing and presenting 2027 budget when approval of over 7 trillion is been sought for the implementation of 2026 budget. ”
“The backlog payment been implemented for local contractors from 2024 has the companies of principal officers of the National Assembly running into billions of naira , leaving local contractors into bribing for likely payments in percentages. ”
Other payments for constituency projects are the ones executed directly by the lawmakers rather than the ones they engaged local contractors, as a result the format adopted for payment of backlogs owed contractors by President Tinubu’s administration. ” the APM spokesman stated .
The end products is the continous hardships, sufferings, and poverty ridden society inflicted on Nigerians by the present administration of APC.
